Árpád Bridge construction work
On monday night the construction work on Árpád bridge started. From now on every night from 8pm till 6am the workers will repair the bridge step by step. Árpád bridge is one of the most frequented bridges in Budapest so the constructions will not be an easy task. Even thought the bridge is 3 laned it already caused big trouble when the construction workers made a mistake in the first night from monday to tuesday. A wrong adjustment caused a ver slow and long traffic jam on the bridge down till the pest side. Nearly nothing was moving on the bridge since the workers stopped the traffic completely for a while. Different than on other bridges you don’t have the chance to turn on the bridge once you passed the Erste Bank building so I am quite sure that some people had a very nice morning standing for ages in the traffic instead of going to work.
I don’t know how long the construction will go on but I guess that it will be some weeks at least. At the moment the work is just going on on the side heading from Pest to Buda and they start on the Buda part of the bridge. After reaching the Pest side most probably the other direction will be repaired. For all going on Árpád bridge i nthe morning and evening it is a recommendable to use Margit bridge if the traffic starts already at the Erste Bank building.
