Café Central Budapest

Tradition downtown!

Cafe central is as the name says in the center of Budapest close to Erzsébet Híd. It is a very old Cafe with tradition in Budapest. Cafe Central is not only a Cafe but also a restaurant. The menu starts from breakfast menues, all types of coffee to lunch and dinner dishes as a full meal. The place itsself is very nice decorated in old fashion style as it should be for a traditional cafe. Located closed to Váci utca (shopping streets link) of course Cafe Central is an attraction for tourists. But the prices and service is fair not like in other tourist places.

Unfortunatly, it was impossible to try this well known café since we were nearly kick out the place (with my husband and my 18 months year old daughter) by two very rude waiters! I never felt so unwelcome in my café – life! I never met so unpolite waiter (and I have been a lot of time in café in Paris)!

Was that because I was a tourist? with a baby? because I simply ask about the empty table we were seeing while they told me it was full?

I would not recommend the café central if you are something else than a rich hungarian single man. You would risk to have a very unpleasant time.

Very nice place with very nice people. I was with a group of friends and for all the days we stayed in budapest, we couldn’t help going there at least once (also, because it was situated near our hotel). During the dinner there was live music, very nice. And the waiters were very kind and smiling, even if we ordered just coffee.

I would highly recommend this place. Once in Budapest, you can’t miss it.

    Hello,

I want to know if it’s possible to buy one of your sweet and delicious cake and pastries to send to my sister for her birthday to Germany so I was wondering if you have a web page where I can choose and buy ?

    Thank you very much,

    Wendy
