A study conducted by STR Global about room rates, occupancy rate and revenue per available room in 31 European cities and countries has revealed that hotels in Budapest are among the cheapest in Europe. According to the study Hungary is placed in 28th place when it comes to the room rates which means that hotels are the 5th cheapest. Hungarian hotels have generated a total revenue of 74 billion HUF in the first 7 months of 2012 which is an increase of 13,4% year on year. Out of the 74bn HUF in total 39bn HUF ave been generated in Budapest which is an increase of more than 10% compared to the same period in 2011.
