All in all I can say that this was not my last time in Grandio Party Hostel in Budapest and I will recommend it to friends and people who are searching for a cheap accommodation in Budapest because as the prices stated on the website it is fairly cheap compared to a cheap hotel in the city center and especially for young people, stag weekends or generally party oriented people this is the place to stay.

Pezsegő Bár

Pezsegő Bar in Budapest is a little, fancy place in the city center surrounded by several other bars. The speciality of this bar is champagne and wine which is really excellent. It seems that this place is a little in bar for rich people and those who would like to be, a bit poshy and snobbish but I have to admit that I felt great there. You can also have nice dinners there served really excellent and well tasting as well. Also very good is the DJ who is playing lounge type of music rather for the background than for dancing but going well with the style of the bar and not too loud so you still can have a chat with your people.

To be honest there is not too much to write about Pezsegő Bar Budapest except from that it is a really nice and cosy place to have a drink with friends and have a chat. On fridays and saturdays it is recommended to reserve a table in advance since the seats in Pezsegő are limited. The entire bar is not too large so it might be that you have to stand in the crowd trying to reach the bar to have one of the fantastic champagnes or wines.

There are of course other drinks served as well like cocktails, beer and soft drinks. For food I recommend you to check out the website of Pezsegő Bar in Budapest. So if you want to have a cosy evening with friends I recommend to go to Pezsegő and if it is crowded there are other places areound to jump in for a drink.

Anyways the menu offers all kinds of starters such as soups, salads and hot and cold starters. You get italian Bruscetta, Hungarian Fish Soup or green pea soup with Wasabi and shrimps. So really it is a bit from everywhere in the world. It looks exactly the same for the main dishes, Wok fried chicken with chili and ginger or Gypsy steak with potatoes just to name 2 dishes which probably come from the other end of the world. Well than there is the dessert which is kind of unspectacular.

I haven’t eaten in Menta Terasz so I cannot judge the food but what I have seen looks really nice and the portions seem to be fair enough for the price they ask for. What they can do really good are cocktails and of course long drinks. To bring a little negative aspect to this review I was unsatisfied with the service of the staff in Menta Terasz because they were so slow in taking an order and bringing the drinks over to the table. Anyways that might have been an exception and normally they are fast.

A couple of years ago when I first went to Gödör Klub in Budapest everything happened inside which on a saturday night is quite smoky and loud. Anyhow during the last years they managed to build up an outdoor area with tons of tables and chairs on the stairs goind up and down to the club.

During summertime you will find here many students having a beer, a coffee or just enjoying the wireless and the sun during daytime. In the evening there is a lot of program going on in Gödör Klub like live concerts, art exhibitions and much more.

The prices in Gödör Klub are average and taking into consideration that it is located very central you could even say that it is a cheap place to drink a cocktail, coffe or beer. Cocktails are around 1000-1300 HUF and the fresh Dreher beer comes 560 HUF.

All in all Gödör Klub is a fantastic place to spend a free summer afternoon but also to come for concerts of more or less underground bands and of course get some drinks.

Bar Domby is for sure one of the classiest bars in Budapest. It has the typical New York look and feel in black and gold interior with large, high mirrors hanging on the wall. The atmosphere is good and bar Domby seems to be crowded whenever you go there.

But it is not only the interior which is amazing but the drinks. World class drink, especially Martini mixes, made by bar keepers who understand their job and all that for reasonable prices. Bar Domby in Budapest is for sure a place for metropolitan people who love the flair of good and stylish bars. The bar Minyon in Budapest is located in one of the upcoming areas of Budapest downtown, Király utca. In Király utca more and more bars, cafes and restaurants open up which all are styled well, serve good food and offer great cocktails. Bar Minyon is one of those. The interior reminds me of some lounge style straight from New York or London, modern a bit sterile but comfortable on every place.
The interesting thing about Bar Minyon is that on fridays and saturdays at 11 o’clock the bar turns into a club with dance floor, lound live music and a bar as long as the place itself. I haven’t been there for the club time but I heart that it is good.

During the day Bar Minyon is more or less a cafe with small snacks, fresh coffee and cakes. In the afternoon and evening in Bar Minyon well prepared food is served. The food is a bit overpriced but a classical fusion food which tastes great. You need to be a bit careful with the “Mangalica wrapped in Parma Ham” as the portion is really really small. I ate a duck curry with pasta which was really great. So I can recommend the food even though it is nothing extraordinary.
Next to the food Bar Minyon serves tons of different cocktails and a large selection of wines. All drinks, as well as the food, are a bit overpriced but still in a affordable range. If you feel like eating out in a new and stylish restaurant in Budapest Minyon might be the best choice for you.

Recently I have read on Johnnyjet.com a review about Bar Galaxia in Budapest which made me curious about this bar. So I searched further on Google for Bar Galaxia and found tons of information and frustrated people who went there together with girls and got ripped off. The price was between 50.000 HUF and up to 260.000 HUF for a couple of drinks.

Therefore I want to warn you not to go to Bar Galaxia in Budapest as it is obviously a tourist rip off place. The scheme is always the same. Tourists meet some beautiful young women on the streets of Budapest (mostly on Vaci ut) who want to go for a drink. Of course the girls pretend to not know a place but they always find the same bars which in this case is Bar Galaxia. The toursits follow them blind, do not wantch the menu and pay massive amounts in the end.
The bill is as I said quite high but as soon as it comes to the payment some nice bouncers appear in the bar and won’t let you go anymore. So basically you have to pay. The problem is that the prices are in the menu, which you never see, and if you come back with the police after your visit they cannot do anything.
So please avoid this and other bars. I found a list of bars in Budapest at the homepage of the Embassy of the USA so please do not go to any of these bars. And another Szimpla Kert type of bar in Budapest yet a bit more stylish and modern. ApaCuka is in the center of the city but almost not findable. ApaCuka is in Horánsky utca which the taxidriver (40 years in business) and I never heart before. A quick look at the map tells it is near Blaha Luiza Tér.

Anyways, ApaCuka as I said is like Szimpla Kert in a modern way meaning that the bar is more styled, the walls are not coming down and the chairs and tables look alike. Well there is nothing special to say about drinks as the beer tasts just like in other bars in Budapest ad the Jägermeister as well. The price is average and the service even in high traffic times very friendly.
Downstairs you can find a dancefloor which was not used as it was tuesday when I was in ApaCuka. Maybe I will go there again because it seemed to be a relaxed atmosphere there and I enjoyed my drinks.

Budapest offers many open air clubs in summer. In the last couple years a lot of new clubs opened up in backyards, at the Danube or in old manufacturing factory sides.
Famous for Budapest are the “kert” which is a backyard in a house complex or just a place like a beer garden. Every year new places come up and offer beer, wine, food and just everything you need for a nice evening. The ambience is very chilly most of the time candles are burning and there are places to lie down or chill. The prices in kerts are quite cheap compared to regular clubs and discos. Beer is usually a round 1-1,5 Euro for 0,4 liters. Wine is also very cheap. Mixed drinks are a little bit more expensive but still affordable.
Some of those kerts turn into a club at night with music and dance floor and some stay a chilly place outside.
Also clubs like Buddha beach, Rio or Zöld pardon are open air place but give the opportunity to dance and are not as chilly as the kérts. If you come to Budapest in summertime you will automatically go to an Open Air place because everybody will go there.
Quiet popular these days are open air places like Romkert or West Balkan which have a special flair and give a good opportunity for a good party with girls and beers.

Instant Budapest

Bar Instant in Budapest is one of the famous ruin pubs which are very popular in Budapest and are very trendy among tourists, expats as well as locals. It is a similar place to Szimpla Kert or other ruin pubs which seem to open up on each and every corner due to the success they are. The mechanism is fairly simple, an old ruin or rather not restaurated house in the city center is rented, most of the time because it is too expensive to renew it, put some old chairs which you can buy on the flee market or used from other bars and pubs in there and place a bar somewhere. That is all what a ruin pub is about.

Ruin pubs used to be the place to go for rather alternative people and students but became very famous over the time with more and more tourists coming. These days you can find these bars in every tourist guide so it is not the secret place to go to which it used to be.

Bar Instant came along after the first wave of ruin pubs with Szimpla, the old West Balkan or Romkert but with very good interior design they quickly closed the gap to other, more prominent bars and became one of the first choice among tourists. However since these places are visited by stag groups, foreign students and expats mainly they lost their attractiveness and you need to search for the really back to the roots old school ruin bars.

The prices in Bar Instant in Budapest are average and the product range normal. They does not serve food except from some really bad tasting sandwiches but thats not why you go there. So to have a beer with some friends Instant in Budapest is very good. Go have a try.
