John’s Pub in Budapest is not really a special pub except from the fact that you get quiet cheap beer and other drink right on Vaci utca the touristic center of Budapest. Sourrounded by typical tourist blood sucking restaurants John’s Pub still offers good and fair prices for their drinks. I know that you can eat there as well but as I always went there for the beer I have no idea about if the food is good or not or if the prices are fair as well.

So if you want to watch a bit of Budapests street life or rather the touristic life od Budapest this is a good place to go because you can sit outside, have your pint and watch tourists as well as locals running around. 

I just tried to find the adress on Google but I really can’t find the exact adress. Basically it is on that part of Vaci utca which ends in the grand market hall but closer to Erzsébet híd.

Macskafogó is a place near the Budapest parliament where I cannot decide if it is a club or a pub or even a restaurant. When I have been there the first time I thought it was a club with places to sit but when I visited their website I read that they call themselves a “Music Pub”.

Anyways this place is quiet good to drink and dance. Macskafogó is located in the cellar of some house near the parliament and the audience is quiet mixed. Not only the age ranges between 16 and 40 also the type of persons are quiet different. If you cannot decide where to go or the place is closed to you go there.

No, not what you might think. I am not selling a pub here and I don’t know any for sale. The pub For Sale is a normal pub where everybody can go to, have a beer and eat some nice food.

The pub For Sale in Budapest is located quiet central accross he street from the great market hall. The funny thing about the pub For Sale in Budapest is that you get served masses of peanuts for free on each table and can throw the shells on the floor which is covered with straw. The second curious thing about the pub For Sale is that you can pin anything on the wall. Usually people put their business cards there or small hand written “I was here” notes. But you can also find small flags, cigarette boxes, paintings and so on. All walls and even the ceilling is full of little papers.
Apart from that the For Sale pub in Budapest offers a lot of different beers, massive food dishes and live music. If you are in the downtown it is worth a visit.

Jam Pub is a very big place usually stuffed with people specially expats. The music is diifferent every day so a look in a program magazine is very helpful.

Old Mans music pub in Budapest is one of the places that is full of expats. You enter a small door and would not guess the size of Old Mans because it is very large. Entirely in the cellar of a normal living house Old Man’s music Pub gives you everything from food over drinks and girls to club atmosphere on the dancefloor.

In the afternoon or evening you can have a dinner with some beer. Old Man’s offers a big variety of food like pasta, pizza, salads, meat dishes, desserts and much more. I have never tried the food there so I don’t want to judge it but Old Man’s is more known as a live music and party pub than a gourmet place.

Later at night the Pub gets very crowded every day. If you don’t know where to go on a tuesday evening because no club is open you always can jump into Old Man’s. It is free and it is always full with expats and many professional girls. On the dancefloor you can find not professional girls as well from all over Hungary who have a nice time in Budapest and most of the time end up in Old Man’s.

Becketts is a well known place for live football in Budapest. Specially English Premier League is shown in Becketts but als the Bundesliga, Seria A and Primera Division. Next to football Becketts offers like many other Pubs pints of beer, food and English pub atmosphere. For football you have the best atmosphere in Becketts. 

Becketss is THE place for expats and foreigners. Every staff member speaks perfect English, you find tons of beer from the UK there and you get your sunday roast or stew there. So for every one who misses his or her traditional British food Becketts is for sure a good place to go.

On weekends you will find many Budapest girls there as expats are quite attractive to some types of girls in Hungary. So at night time you will have music and a lot of alcohol in Becketts mixed with sometimes good looking girls that makes a nice evening.

The Irish Cat Pub in Budapest is at Kalvin ter in the center of Budapest. Usually many expats run around in Irish Cat Pub and so do a lot of girls. Every event like Halloween or Easter is celebrated with special parties and typical music. But besides drinking and party the Irish Cat Pub in Budapest offers food as well. Typical american food like Burgers, Chicken Wings or other junk food but also pizza or salads are served. 

But famous is the Irish Cat Pub for long parties on the weekends with a lot of expats from all over the world. The pub turns into a club and people are dancing, drinking and having fun. It is always a blast in there if you like 80’s music and the typical expat bars in Budapest than Irish Cat Pub is the place to go for you.

Bar Instant seems not to be around for too long but the place is really good. Instant in Budapest is quite similar to Szimpla Kert or other backyard bars and the people going there are the same as well. A bit alternative, come down but good place to hang out for the evening.

The prices are average and the product range normal. Instant in Budapest does not serve food except from some really bad tasting sandwiches but thats not why you go there. So to have a beer with some friends Instant in Budapest is very good. Go have a try.

The Kempinski Hotel „Brauerei” offers a lot of good German food like „1 Meter Nürnberger Bratwurst”, sausages, schnitzel and other meaty snacks. In Kempinski Hotel located the Pub is of course a little bit more expensive than others but still affordable. A big variety of beers is offered there and of course the Weizenbeer is not missing.

The ambience is held in traditional German wooden interior with a big bar and a brew kettle in it. The waiters and waitresses speak several languages as it is common for a top hotel.
For a German snack and a beer the Kempinski Brauerei Pub is excellent.
