6.03.10 – Papp Laszlo Arena

Rammstein is most probably the most successful German band outside Germany next to Tokio Hotel and Scooter which is still performing today and now they come for a concert to Budapest again. Rammstein has been in Budapest I think 2007 the last time and even if you don’t like their music you have to admit that their live performance is a blast. I have seen Rammstein live last time they where here and the stage was full of fire, laser, special effects and other show elemets which you won’t see in any other concert.

Last time the concert was 100% sold out after a very short time and it will be the same in 2010 because their seems to be a big Rammstein Fan base here in Hungary and of course in the countries around like Croatia, Slovakia, the Ukraine or Rumania. So be sure to get your ticket as soon as possible.

Rammstein is in music business since 15 years now and they have performed all over the world in the biggest stadiums around the globe. With more than 10 million sold albums you can call them superstars. Their latest album “Liebe ist für alle da” is placed on the German Index by the Federal Department for Media Harmful to Young Persons which makes it actually illeagal to buy in Germany, if you get it because the album is banned from the stores.

So Rammstein is a controversial band which makes them even more attractive than being a well-behaved Rock band from next door. I urge you to get your tickets as soon as possible if you want to see Rammstein in Budapest otherwise you will have to buy them illeagally for a very high price.

Metallica, for sure one of the most legendary Heavy Metal bands in the world is coming to Budapest on May 5th 2010 for a concert… or rather a rock show. Be prepared, get your tickets soon or you will sit outside Puskas Ferenc Stadium listening to them.

Metallica is in music business since ages and since than produced tons of awesome albums like “Kill em all” od “…And Justice for All”, released world hits like”Nothing Else matters”, “One” or “Seek & Destroy” and gave thousands of concerts all around the world rocking millions of fans and the worlds biggest stadiums. With more than 50 million CDs sold only in the US and tons of awards Metallica is for sure one of the biggest heavy metal bands in the world and yes they are still performing. So in 2010 Metallica in Budapest will take place in Puskas Ferenc Stadium which will host approximately 50.000 people and I bet it will be sold out so you should get your ticket today to not miss the show!

The Invisible Exhibition is taking place at the moment in Budapest were E-Klub is. What is the Invisible Exhibition? Well it is all about what do blind people experience and how they manage their lives. The Invisible Exhibition will take place until December 2009 so get yourself over to Népliget and try it because it is a really interesting experience.

The website of the Invisible Exhibition describes the experience as following

Imagine that all the lights go out…

The Invisible Exhibition Budapest is a unique interactive journey to an invisible world, where you experience finding your way only by touch and by following sounds and smells.

You will experience for example what it is like to go into the kitchen if you are blind. Just imagine you can’t see but have to find plates and pots, you will cook and find the right spices. Can you differentiate between Oregano and other herbs just by smelling? Well I can tell you it is not as easy as it sounds like.
The exhibition should be an eye opener to make people who can see feel what blind people feel and which tasks in their daily lives they are confronted with.

I really recommend to go there since this is an experience that you wil never forget and it will in some way change your view of the world. Just ask yourself sometimes who you would have managed a situation without seeing anything. Well that exactly is what you will experience in the invisible exhibition in Budapest.

The organizer also offers the chance to have a “invisible dinner” which basically is eating in the dark and, as I have heart, it must be a great experience because you taste the flavours even more and in the same time you have to get along with the fact that you don’t see what you are eating.

So as I said I recommend to check out the Invisible Exhibition in Budapest as long as it is possible (December 2009). You can find more information on the website of the invisible exhibition and of course directly in the E-Klub at Népliget. The opening hours are on weekdays 12.00 – 20.00 and on weekends 10.00 – 20.00. The prices for an adult are 1.490 HUF (1.750 on weekends), students and seniors for 1.200 HUF (1.500 on weekends) and of course you can get group tickets. A dinner is 6.490 HUF.

Jingle bells!

Every year when it is time for christmas on big squares open up christmas markets. Te flair of a christmas market in Budapest is not as good as in e.g. Germany but it is nice to go there, have a hot wine, something to eat and just enjoy the atmosphere around. You also can do some smaller christmas shopping on most of the markets. Mainly the christmas market is used to get a hot wine, meet with friends and have fun. Here are some good christmas markets in Budapest.

Christmas market Vörösmaty tér

The Vörösmaty tér is in the center of Budapest, in the middle of the touristic area on the end of Vaci utca. Usually you don’t see many Hungarians in Vaci utca as it is mainly made for tourists but in the christmas time Vörösmaty tér hosts the nicest and I think biggest christmas market in Budapest. Next to the typical hot wine and sausages you find nice little shops with all kind of christmas related things. I will be there.

Jokai tér christmas market

A small but nice christmas market on the opposite site of Liszt Ferenc tér. This christmas market closes quiet early and the single places for hot wine or food are not as nice as for example on Vörösmaty tér. Nevertheless if you are around there have a look or go to the opposite site on the Liszt Ferenc tér christmas market.

Liszt Ferenc tér christmas market

Usually on Liszt Ferenc tér you find outside a lot of chairs and tables from the restaurants and bars but in the winter time it is obviously too cold to sit outside. So the place is used for the christmas market. I have never been really there, just walked across but it looked to me like a salespoint for touristic stuff like typical Hungarian blankets and so on.

The Sziget festival is the biggest Rock festival in Europe concerning the number of visitors. The reason for that is that the Sziget festival lasts a complete week and not like many other festivals just a long weekend. The spatiality about the Sziget festival is that it is on an island (Sziget = Island). The island is called Óbudai Sziget and is the biggest island in Budapest. It is bigger than 70 football pitches and is in the northern part of Budapest.

11th – 17th August 2010

What I like about Sziget Festival is that it is not only about music but you can discover so many things in different booths. People, companies or whatever offer all kinds of activities for those who want to relax from the music and do something else which is especially interesting for those who are staying on the island. The island offers everything you need from restaurants, cash machines, supermarket and everything else you could need in this week. But many people take some time and go to the city or just off the island to relax, see Budapest, shop important things and what so ever.
