Inspired by a post from We Love Budapest and my love for fish I have visited The Fishmonger as it is called in English, originally Budaörsi Halpiac, a fresh fish market in Budaörsi in the outskirts of Budapest. Budaörs is a little city located where the M1/M7 highway enter Budapest with a lot of shopping and industry is going on such as Ikea, Decathlon, Tesco, Auchan and many more. In between you can find a wholesale company for fish called PLP Seafood which has an own little shop located where the warehouse is.
As the fish is straight from the warehouse of PLP Seafood and not aging in some other company’s storage facilities for who knows how many days the seafood is extremely fresh. Also the variety is amazing, I have seen almost no shop where you can buy for example tuna steaks which are not on the daily food list of Hungarians so why offer it in city center supermarkets. So it is variety, freshness and also the knowledge of the staff that makes The Fishmonger unique in Budapest who can always give you good advises and tips what to buy and how to prepare.
But it is not only fresh seafood what you can buy in The Fishmonger, also frozen very specific and even rare seafood and fishes are available the the public. Next to regular mixed seafood, mussels or shrimps you can find lobster, spiny lobster or scallop on the list to buy and also you find a lot of spices all about seafood and cooking books giving you the best recipes to prepare your fish. So if you are into fishes, cooking and freshness have a go to The Fishmonger in Budaörs, you can find the address and location below.
