I too am a gulible little git… Walking home to hotel after a long day at office feeling tired and got asked for direction froms these two girls asking for directions to Besci Ut – not realising where it was – helpfull as I am – I looked it up on my GPS and realised it was just a couple of meters away – alarm bells should be ringing by now, but they were friendly and good talkers so I end up going with them to Galaxia, sit down have two bottles of small wine and two shots of some schnaps – two and a half hour later I am leaving and presented with a bill equating to 230000 Forint… Wanting to pay with my credit card the machine in conveniently out-of-order so am frogmarched down to the nearest ATM machine where cash is withdrawn bill settled and I walk home. damn, do I feel sick to my stomach having paid close to 700 Euro for some mediocre drink and food.

DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE OR BE HELPFUL AT ALL TO ANYONE ASKING FOR DIRECTIONS… IT WILL BE A TRAP – and before you know it your bank account/credit card is haemoriging money…

Why don’t anyone throw a molotov cockatil into those premisses – preferably with the owner and accomplishes present in the premisses…?

I got scammed also – about 500 euros. But I did got little revenge on the bar, as I casually went in the next day, said that they owned me 100000 forints. After they started talking hungarian, I smashed tray of glasses to the floor. When the doorman tried to block the door, I kicked him in the groin, and fled the place. Travelling alone there wasn’t much else to do, since I didn’t get my receipt etc. But I managed to hurt them at least a little, enough for me to feel better.

Exactly the same thing happend to me… scenario for scenario. Two Croatian women looking to share a drink with. Equivalent of 500 EUROs for a couple of drinks. I would not recommend anyone to go to Hungary. Totally corrupt, the police are in on it. They know about it and do nothing.

Yep, just got me too. Two girls one young one older at a conference etc. I can remember the bar name but I’m sure it was one of the ones mentioned above. A few shots and drinks they order food and then I suggest going on to a different place. Then oh you want to pay cash follow me… I get dragged along to the cash point which sets more alarm bells ringing (I thought the scam was two girls getting a guy to pay for some food and a couple of drinks) but I do a conversion quick on the iPhone (thank you Mr Jobs) and work out I am about to pay 700 Euro! I freak out and tell them all where to go and demand a manager. We go back to the bar and the waitress who led me to the cash point goes away and returns in a business jacket ( WTF). The girls say ok we will split it and look all desperate and pull out some cash, “but there were three of us”. Yes, but we were not drinking molten gold! I take the “manager to the cash point again and tell her 25000 F (100 Euro) and no more. She yield and now I’m back in my hotel room, which I stupidly told them which hotel I am staying at, wondering if the corrupt police are going to show up and accuse me of god knows what . I am a moron! Please learn from my mistake

The same thing happened to me, but the US Embassy removed it from the scam list. They probably got paid off by them or something. Stay away from this place.

Careful with two Croacian girls that will bring you to Városközpont bar with outside elevator access, I end up paying 750 euros for a few drinks, the Scam bars in Budapest are dangerous and if you dont have the money they treat you to call the police, this ruin my vacation in Budapest
