Goulash, Pörkölt and Palacsinta

  • Goulash soup is probably the Hungarian dish all people know. It is a soup made of beef pieces, carrots, celery, potatoes and paprika. Traditionally it is made over a fire in gardens in big cauldron. The Goulash which e.g. the Germans call Goulash please see Pörkölt.

  • [Palacsinta] – pancake


  • The palacsinta is a stuffed pancake with all kinds of things you can imagine starting from sweet things like Nutella, Nuts, cacao and jam over to spinach, cheese and more. There is a traditional palacsinta called the Gundelpalacsinta which is stuffed with nuts, chocolate, raisin and cream.

  • Pörkölt is a kind of stew with meat, paprika powder, onions. It is served with galuska which are small like rice but are pasta.

  • [Rantott Sajt] – fried cheese


  • Rantott sajt is fried cheese which is bread crump and served with a special sauce.

  • Somloi Galuska are “biscuit” pieces with vanilla crčme, raisin and nuts with chocolate sauce and rum.
