Sightseeing in BudaThe nicer side!Castle districtThe castle district is one of the most famous parts of Budapest and at the same time a piece of history. On top of castle district you can find the Matyas Church, the Fisher Bastion, the Military history museum, the Vienna gate, the Museum of commerce and cathering, the Labyrinth of Buda Castle, the Budapest history Museum, the Hungarian national gallery, and the Széchenyi library.Of course on Castle district you can find a lot more pieces of history, old buildings and interesting little streets. A lot of cafes, restaurants and bars are on top of the hill for tourists and other visitors as well as for the people who live in castle district in Budapest. ![]() Gellert HillOn Gellert Hill you can find the Citadella one of the most exciting monuments of Budapest. From the top of the hill you have an amazing view over the city and the Danube. You can see all the exciting places like chain bridge, parliament, castle district and the opera. Especially at night many people come to Gellert hill to feel the exciting view when all the lights of Budapest are on and the city looks like a Christmas tree. One night you should go there and enjoy.![]() Statue ParkThe Statue Park> is a collection of old socialistic statues far outside of Buda side. The statues got collected from all over the city and brought to the Statue Park where they are shown like a museum to interested people. For easy traveling there is a bus going from Déak tér several times a day. For further information please check the website.Statue Park website ![]() CitadellaThe Citadella stands on Gellert Hill on the Buda side and was placed for the soldiers who died in world war 2. The statue is seen almost from every part of the city. In her hands she holds a palm leaf. Originally she was holding a propeller which was dedicated to the son of Miklós Horthy who died in a test flight when world war 2 stated. The propeller got replaced because Miklós Horthy had good contacts to Hitler and they did not want to remind of him. At August 20th (the national holiday) the fireworks is started at the Citadella.Fisherman's BastionThe Fisherman's Bastion is located in the castle district on the Buda side. It was built between 1895 and 1902. In former years the Fishermen's Bastion played a big defensive role for Budapest but nowadays it is used as a sightseeing point with a great view over the Pest side of Budapest. The lower floor can be entered for free to go up the stairs and stand on top of it you have to pay. The Fisherman's Bastion is worth a visit, specially at night when the city lights are turned on the view is great.
