Fancy seeing drivers and VIPs from a very small distance? Well than I have a good tip for you. As the way through the city is too crowded and takes too long the drivers and VIPs are brought from the city by helicopter to the circuit. These helicopters always land in the same place where you can go to as well. At the northern end of the “Ujpesti Alsórakpart” (The road directly next to the Danube on Pest side) the small, white helicopters are taking off and landing all day long during the race weekend. If you wait here you can see the star drivers of the Formula 1 from a distance less than 10m.

Formula 1 Budapest Hotel Reservation

If you come over to Budapest for the Formula 1 you should take care of a decent hotel as soon as possible since most hotels are booked out really fast after the announcement of the exact weekend on which the Formula 1 Grand Prix will take place. Keep in mind that not just fans are booking hotels but also the teams
You need a place to stay near the circuit? But to bee not too far outside the city you should choose a hotel in the city but on the way to the Hungaroring. Book your hotel now to get good prices and best places.

Every year the Budapest Marathon attracts thousands of runners from all over the world. The Budapest Marathon is a big event for the city. It is comparable with the Red Bull Air Race in Budapest where the Buda rákpart is closed for this event. Next to the full marathon in Budapest every year the Nike half marathon and the Coca Cola women’s running race take place in Budapest.

Ferencvaros, MTK and Debrecen!

Even though Hungary did not make it to the World Cup 2006 in Germany football is one of the most popular sports in Hungary. Football is played everywhere in Budapest in clubs and on the streets in the poorer parts of Budapest.

Players

The biggest stars of Budapest that are still playing are Zoltan Gera (West Bromwich), Gabor Kiraly (Crystal Palace) and Imre Szabics (FC Köln). In former times when Hungary almost won the World Championship in 1954 the biggest star was and still is Ferenc Puskas.

Clubs

In the season 05/06 the Hungarian league called NB1 exists of 16 clubs. Most of them are from Budapest or suburbs the rest is from big cities over the country. Last years champion of the league is VSC Debrecen.
Besides Debrecen there are Ferencvaros Budapest, MTK Budapest, Ujpest Budapest, FC ETO Györ, TE Zalaegerszegi FC, FC Sopron, FC Fehérvár, Diosgyöri BFC, Pecsi NFC, Honvéd Budapest, Kaposvari Rakoczi FC, Vasas Budapest, Lombard Papa FC, Rakospalotai EAC, Tatabánya FC.

National team

The national team is managed by the German record national player Lothar Matthäus. Hungary did not qualify for the World Cup 2006 in Germany. In the qualification they reached the fourth place wit 14 points behind Croatia (24 points), Sweden (24 points) and Bulgaria (15 points).

But still the excitement for football is very big. If you want to visit a football match in Hungary Google for your favorite club.

Hole in one, greens and tees!

At the moment golf is not too popular in Hungary but it is on a good way to become a quiet popular sport. There are a couple Golf Courses all over the country in detail there are seven 18 hole courses, one 9 hole course, one 8 hole course and three 6 hole courses.
Most of them are in and around Budapest maximum 30 minutes away. But also close to other big cities and to the border of Austria there are golf courses. Many Austrians come to play golf in Hungary because it is cheaper.
Additionally to the Golf courses in Budapest you can find some driving ranges in the city or around. Of course all the 18 and 9 hole golf courses have there own driving range and practise area for chipping, putting and bunkers.
The green fee differs a lot from the club and of course the length of the course. Also the practicing areas are priced different.
The club houses on Hungarian golf courses are more or less the same standard as in Europe. For example the club house the Pannónia Golf Club between Budapest and the Austrian boarder was used in former times horse stud and is renovated very nice.

But please check out the single Golf courses for further information.

But not only swimming also water polo is very popular thus really every district has at least one swimming pool which of course is open to the public as well.

Most people in summertime go to one of the two swimming pools on Margit Island which is totally crowded in the hot months of the year but also fantastic since you are on the island, swimming, having fun. Check out some pools in Budapest.

Kart racing is a fun activity you should not miss. Feel like Schuhmacher and the rest of the Formula One while racing in a kart. There are two kart tracks in Budapest where you can go for a fun race. The costs are not too high for a couple of hours with your frineds or family.

Quad Budapest

Quad is a vehicle with 4 wheels which can also be called ATV (All terrain vehicle). All terrain because it is a vehicle used for off road driving. Usually in major cities it is impossible to ride a quad but Budapest has the Quad Park in Budaörs next to Kika and Auchan.

Horse riding Budapest

Horses need much space so it is hard to find places to horse ride in Budapest. Usually the horse riding schools are in the outskirts of major cities. Budapest has two stables to ride on horses.

Skateboarding Budapest

The advantage of skatboarding compared to activities like quad is that you don’t need an extra park or off road terrain. Never the less skateboarding with ramps and pipes is fun as well. Here you can find a cool place used only for skateboarding in Budapest.
