Wine tasting in Etyek

Etyek wine region tastingWine tasting in Etyek is a tour which you can do in approximately 4 hours and it is worth every minute. Every year the Etyek wine region has a big wine festival which is visited by many people from Budapest since the Etyek wine festival is not as touristic as the Budapest wine festival. The city or wine region Etyek is approximately 30km away from Budapest close to the M1 highway which leads to Vienna. On this bookable tour you will get picked up from any central located hotel in Budapest, brought to Etyek and returned to the Inter-Continental Hotel in the city center. On this tour you will get a kind of countryside feeling even though it will not be wine festival you will hear and see a lot more than just Budapest, prominent sights and city center tourism.

What you will see and experience on the Etyek wine tasting?

You will start your tour with a trip to one of the most famous cellars in Etyek with a fantastic view on the Etyek wine region, the Buda hills and the wonderful surrounding areas of the region. The regions grapes grow on 800 hectare area and are historically used to make sparkling wines and champagne. For example Hungarys most famous sparkling wine, the “Törley” is produced from Chardonnay grapes coming from Etyek. The typical wines you can find here are Chardonnay, Sauvignon blanc as well as Pinot Gris which gets more and more popular in this region. Next to the wine tasting you will of course get some snacks and soft drinks. You will also have the chance to buy the wine you tasted and others if you like. Don’t get me wrong this is not a pure selling trip but a real wine tasting.

I am a Canadian student studying Hungarian wines. My project requires me to present information on the future of winemaking and wine marketing in the region of Etyek. Any information you could send would be appreciated. We enjoy Hungarian wine here in Ontario, and would like to learn more about its future. Thank you.
